The Hangar DIY Lab

Updated Hangar Model Starting March 1st, 2024:

Create, tinker, and craft in the Hangar makerspace. Stop by the Hangar to enjoy weekly activities for all ages, or use our self-service makerspace equipment which includes a Cricut, sewing machine and embroidery machine.

Use of the makerspace equipment is open to adults and teens ages 14+ with a valid library card, ID, and signed waiver. *No advance reservations available – use of the equipment is on a same day, first-come, first-served basis. Equipment and materials provided free of use with a library card. Sign in to use the equipment at the library’s Information Desk. For questions, please email us at hangar@placentialibrary.org.

Get assistance for technology and computer questions, such as learning how to use Chat GPT or other AI services, scan a document, send an email, get set up with the library app, or format a resume. Stop by with your question or come learn about a selected topic by our librarians.

This drop-in, basic technology use workshop is not intended for in-depth assistance, and the library is not able to provide individualized help on projects, assignments or resumes. Ages 14+.

Learn about AI technologies from our librarians with an interactive, mixed-media take-home craft including AI-generated artwork, button-making and printed collages. Bring your creativity, and the only limitation is your imagination.

Materials will be provided. Space is limited. Entry tickets for both timeslots will be issued starting at 12:30 p.m. the day of the program.

Maker Labs! Cosplay Corner

Join us for a series focusing on the basics of creating your very own cosplay props using EVA foam! Learn the materials, tools, and techniques needed as we recreate some of your favorite props from movies, video games, and pop culture. Materials will be provided. Space is limited. Entry tickets will be issued starting at 12:30 p.m. the day of the program. Open to ages 12 - 18.

Sewing 101
