End of Summer Luau and Ice Cream Social

Primary tabs

Celebrate the end of summer with a trip to the Pacific Islands! No need for plane tickets, we are bringing the luau to Placentia. The fun starts with a hula and fire knife performance!

Hula is the dance from the Hawaiian culture that accompanies mele, Hawaiian song or poetry. Every mele has a story, and hula helps tell that story. The modern fire knife dance has its roots in the ancient Samoan exhibition called "ailao," which is the demonstration of a Samoan warrior's battle prowess through artful twirling, throwing, catching and dancing with a lighted war club. Audience participation is highly encouraged.

Then at 12:00 p.m. join us for an ice cream social where we will announce the lucky winners from the Summer Reading Program!
