  • Curbside Pickup Hours: Monday – Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

  • Requested items may take up to 48 working hours to pull. 

  • Curbside service is available to all patrons. 

Curbside Pickup


  1. Request Items
    a. Request items through our online catalog here, or call us at (714) 528-1906 x210 

  2. Wait for Notification or Check Your Account for the Most Current Status 
    a. The library will call or email you to confirm that your items are ready to pick up 

  3. Come to the Library
    a. Drive to the library and park in one of the five numbered curbside pickup spots to the right of the loading zone (please see map).  

  4. Call or Text Us
    a. Follow prompts on the designated parking signs. Please be prepared with your name, library card number, and parking spot number. Please have trunk open and remain in your car to avoid contact with staff. 

  5. We’ll Bring Out Your Items
    a. Staff will bring your items directly to you and place the items in your trunk to avoid physical contact.  

  6. Return Items to Library and Repeat
    a. Books and audiobooks are due in 3 weeks and DVDs are due in 1 week.
    b. Items can be returned to the library book drops. DVDs, Video Games and Audiobooks must be returned to the Gazebo book drop (please see map). 


How can I request an item?
To place a request, search for your item using our online catalog, and select “Request” on the item. 


How many items can I request? 
You may request up to 25 items at a time. The limit of items you can check out is 25 items at a time per library card.   


Can I apply for a library card? 
You may apply for a physical library card when we reopen the main library on June 22. In the meantime, you can enjoy our digital resources and e-content by applying for a Virtual Library Card here: 


Can I return items to staff members while picking up my books or getting books delivered? 
In order to avoid cross-contamination, staff members will not be able to accept items for return during Curbside or Home Delivery service. Books can be returned to our two book drops. 


How can I return my books? 
You may return your books or items to our two book drops, which are located on the outside of the library, beginning on June 8 (please see map). 
Items can be returned to the library book drops. DVDs, Video Games and Audiobooks must be returned to the Gazebo book drop (please see map). 


Can I donate books to the library? 
At this time, the Placentia Library is not able to accept book donations due to safety reasons concerning Covid-19. Please do not drop off any items. The Library will advise the community when we are able accept donations. 


I placed a request for an item before the closure. When will it become available? 
We will begin processing requests on June 8. If you requested an item before the library closure, you will maintain your place on the request list. You can check on the status of your request by going online or giving us a call at (714) 528-1906 x210. 


What about Library of Things (LOTs) items? 
LOTs items are not available for check out at this moment. Hot spots will be available to check out beginning June 22 once the library moves to Phase 2: Limited In Person Services. The entire Library of Things collection will be available to check out once the library deems it safe to move to Phase 3: Full Scale Library Reopening (date TBD). 
If you currently have a LOTs item checked out, please hold onto it until the library reopens to the public on June 22. 


How can I return a Zip Book? 
Zip Books need to be returned to a staff member at the Parking Lot Bookdrop or at curbside pickup. 


When will the library be open to the public? 
The main library is scheduled to open to the public on June 22 during Phase 2: Limited In Person Services. When we reopen, the library will be open for limited services including in-person browsing, computer access, passport and test proctoring services. A limited number of patrons will be allowed inside at any given time and A staff member will be stationed outside the entrance door to ensure masks are worn before a patron is allowed inside the building.
