Dear Placentia Library District Patrons,
As firefighters continue to work on containing the Blue Ridge/Yorba Linda fire and others in Orange County, our thoughts go out to everyone whose lives have been interrupted by such catastrophic events. We pray for your safety as well as our brave firefighters. May you all be able to connect with your families at the end of the day and throughout this unfortunate event.
As of 11:37a.m. today, CalFire reports the Blue Ridge Fire at a 16% containment with 14,334 acres burned. Air quality continues to be at the unhealthy level. Air quality is currently at the "unhealthy" level so please be sure to stay indoors as much as you can. Outdoor exercising should be avoided, and use of energy in your home should be decreased which can improve air quality.
Please note the following information from CalFire:
- Road Closures: Northbound 71 at 91, Southbound Euclid at 71, Santiago Canyon at Ridgeline, and Northbound 241 at Alton
- Temporary Evacuation Points: Thomas Lasorda Jr. Field House at 4701 Casa Loma Avenue in Yorba Linda and Brea Community Center at 695 Madison Way in Brea.
- Animal Evacuation: OC Animal Care Services at 1630 Victoria Road in Tustin.
Our library will remains open for in—person services.
Additionally, we’d like to take this opportunity to inform you of an upcoming change to our library hours. To ensure minimal library service disruptions to our patrons, including potential library closures due to COVID infections, our Library Board, approved a rotating schedule for our staff. Effective November 6, 2020, we will be open Tuesday through Saturday, 10am-5pm.
As you may recall, our library was closed for two weeks due to one of our staff member testing positive. To avoid similar closures, we will implement a weekly rotating schedule with half of our staff working on-site and the other telecommuting. Should one team test positive, the other team will report to work. This way we can remain open while our staff quarantine themselves before reporting back to the library. The rotating schedules will be reassessed at our January board meeting. We will continue to monitor its effectiveness and impact on our patrons and staff.
When we work together and look out for one another, we will get through these challenges. We appreciate everyone's understanding, and thank you for your patience. Let's continue to keep each other safe.
